Arnold Felts

World Champion Calf, Steer, & Team Roper

Arnold Felts was born on May 21, 1947, in Paducah, Texas.  He attended school in Clayton, New Mexico, and Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas.  Arnold is a consistent winner in calf roping, steer roping, and team roping events and an All-Around Champion at many rodeos.  

          Arnold won at the West of the Pecos Rodeo, was a back-to-back winner at Cheyenne, WY, and was the second man in history to qualify for the National Finals Steer Roping 20 times in 1978-84, 1986-90, 1992-99.  He was behind Guy Allen at 32 and Rocky Patterson.  Arnold was Steer Roping Reserve World Champion in 1980 and 1993 and finished in the top five 10 times.  Arnold also set the record for most consecutive rounds won at the National Finals in 1993 by capturing rounds 3-8.

          While riding his big black horse, John Henry, he won the PRCA World Champion Steer Roping title in 1981.  Arnold beat fellow 2005 TRHoF Inductee, Guy Allen to capture the gold buckle.  

          Arnold currently resides in San Angelo, Texas.  Arnold has three children, Laurie Jewell, Heather Shane, and Bryan Day.  A brother and nephew are both competitors.
