Doyle Gellerman

On December 4, 1952, Doyle Gellerman was born in Alameda, California.  When he was 16 years old, he joined the RCA.  By the time he was 20 years old, he was competing at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Doyle is a 25-time National Finals Rodeo cowboy and in 1973 he finished 2nd in the average with his father.  In 1981 Gellerman split the World Champion Team Roper Title with Walt Woodard.

In 1995 Doyle and Britt Bockius broke the 4-second barrier at the NFR with a time of 3.8 seconds that was tied by several teams until Clay Tryan and Michael Jones broke it in 2004.  Doyle was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 2023 and will be inducted into the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame at the Induction on June 28, 2024.

In 1977 Doyle Gellerman and Walt Woodard continued their team for 35 years as they hosted team roping schools with Gellerman stopping full time rodeoing in 2000.  In 2012 he renewed his card to compete in events in California where he worked in the California oil fields as an inspector for 14 years. 

Doyle makes his home in Wickenburg, AZ.
