Guy Allen
18X World Champion Steer Roper
“Legend”
1958-Living
Guy Allen was born September 5, 1958, in Coushatta, Louisiana. Guy has competed at the West of the Pecos Rodeo in the steer roping event for many years and won many of them. His name is often listed as a winner in each Go-Round and then is listed again in the average. He is one of the most steady and consistent steer ropers going down the road.
Guy got his nickname "Legend" from 2019 TRHoF Inductee, Tee Woolman. Raised in Texas and first competing at the age of four, Guy followed closely in his dad, James' footsteps and was soon competing and winning in timed event contests all over the state. Steer roping has always been Guy’s forté and he won his first World Steer Roping Title in 1977, becoming the youngest steer roping champion at 19.
Guy Allen has 18 World Championship titles in 1977, ‘80, ‘82, ‘84, ‘89, ‘91-’01, ‘03, and ‘04. He has 33 NFSR qualifications spanning 1977-2016. Guy was inducted into the PRCA Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1996 and the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2006. His father, James Allen, is a 2010 Inductee into the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame. Guy’s horse, Two D Ole Man (nickname “Jeremiah”) was voted PRCA/AQHA Steer Roping Horse of the Year, four times in 1999-01 and ‘04.
Guy Allen joined his father, James, and brother Gip at the 1983 NFSR as contestants, the first father-son-son tandem in event history.
