Taos muncy

2 Time Saddle Bronc Champion
1928-2009

Taos Muncy is a native of New Mexico who is giving back to the rodeo community by producing the Taos Muncy Invitational held annually to “show New Mexico that there are a lot of talented saddle bronc riders in the world and still here in the great state of New Mexico.” The Annual Taos Muncy Rodeo Scholarship is presented at the Taos Muncy Invitational and is designed for New Mexico High School seniors who meet the scholarship’s criteria. Taos was a college champion at Oklahoma’s Panhandle State University in Goodwell.

Muncy was in his second full season in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) when he earned his inaugural trip to the National Finals Rodeo (NFR), then turned the rodeo world’s attention to New Mexico when he left Las Vegas with the gold in 2007. He followed that with a second world title in 2011. Taos qualified for the NFR 11 times in his career.

Raised on a ranch outside of Corona, N.M., Taos still lives close to home with his wife, Marissa, and their children, Marley and Milo. They are actively involved in the family’s cattle ranch where days are spent horseback, fixing fence, and working cattle and evenings are spent in the arena.

“I just love the state of New Mexico. I was fortunate to ride broncs and saw how big it can be.”
